Billscreen is service that allows its registered users to receive (or upload) all of their online bills, pay slips, insurance certificates and important household and personal documents in one place, accessible at anytime from anywhere with any internet connected device. It provides reminders as well as current and historic analysis to help users make the most of their financial lives.
Security and privacy are at the heart of what we do. We use the latest proven security methods that keep online shopping and banking secure. We also ensure your data is backed up regularly and remains accessible in the event of a hardware fault. It is only ever stored in UK data centres. There are many systems working behind the scenes to keep data secure but remember that you must chose a strong password, keep it private and ensure your device is free from viruses and malware to be fully protected.
Not from us. We don’t spam you nor do we sell or otherwise transfer any details about you including your email address, mobile phone, home address etc. to anyone else. We may email you if you have opted in to newsletters and reminders etc. and we may also email you with critical information that could affect your continued use of the service. All updates we provide are designed to be read once logged in to Billscreen.
You can use a computer (PC or MAC), a tablet or a smart phone so long as it has an internet connection. If you use a device that isn’t yours, please ensure you log out fully from the site after use and do not download any personal data.
The information you can see about your financial life in Billscreen is there based on the data you have inputted. We start with data that you have securely entered in to your own account. Where you have put in your address, suppliers’ names and account numbers or details about your vehicle, we have then automatically brought in additional data from other sources to give you a fuller picture and create your dashboard. Generally additional data will fall in to one of three categories; Open data, midata/partner data and commercial databases.
Open data is data often from public bodies that is quite general and would not be considered personal. It is freely available to everyone to use and republish as they wish.
Midata is a UK Government backed initiative working with leading businesses and consumer groups to give consumers access to their personal data in a portable and electronic format. That is to say in a format that can be imported in to Billscreen and then reformatted, searched and analysed by you, the data subject. Partner data is data that comes from companies you do business with that have an agreement with Billscreen but are not signed up to the wider Midata programme.
Commercial databases are used for example in providing a postcode look up service or matching a vehicle registration number with a make and model and additional details.
We offer a simple service free of charge and we have no plans to change this. We are funded by our partners, your suppliers and potential suppliers as well as our members who pay for more advanced accounts and features.
By having a great understanding of your habits and greater access to your data you are in a better position to choose the best service providers in the market. We don’t promise any savings but believe a more knowledgeable customer is better able to make the best decisions. Billscreen puts you in a position of power by giving you access to relevant information in a timely manner.
Billscreen organises your data in a way that is similar to a traditional filing cabinet with “tabs” for different areas of their life such as a user’s home, car, pet, health and more. Each of these tabs has a number sections and “tiles” within it such as insurance or MOT documents etc. Each tab is dynamic meaning it has the data you upload to it or our partners deposit in to it and also a wide range of data that is derived from the information within the folder as well as public open data sources.
